Jamie Travis makes directing a well practiced skill. He sways the images, music and stories in eccentric pictures that stay on your mind well after the 20 minutes of the short have passed. Estetic innovation is his artistic goal, which earned him the comparison to David Linch, Peter Greenaway and Alfred Hitchcok. The ”Patterns” trilogy is a dark comedy, an anti-love story and the most important representation of Travis’ directing style. A thriller mixed with melodrama and edgy irony, in which theatrical moves are potentiated by the visual morphine of a perfect setting, built to the dot of an i. Don’t be afraid of the incongruence in the dialogues or the absurd of the first part, things will be more musical in the following episodes of the trilogy.
